Although you're going to college to learn and expand your horizons, there is no reason why you can't look great while doing it. Taking a day or two before classes begin allows you to look your best and make a great first impression. Try these four steps to look like a fashion icon on your first day on campus.

Update Your Wardrobe

While in college, you will not have the time to take clothes to the dry cleaners or spend a day in the laundromat. Update your wardrobe with stylish and easy to care for articles of clothing. Most of the time, you will be able to wear casual clothes such as jeans. Consider a couple of skirts, a relaxed dress and a pair of dressier pants. Choose comfortable pieces that you can mix and match, focusing on a capsule wardrobe. Add in a few accessories, such as sunglasses, a comfortable messenger bag and some comfortable sandals.

Lose Weight

If you have some trouble spots of cellulite or fat on your thighs, buttocks or stomach, consider liposuction. Some companies, like Plastic Surgical Arts, know how hard it can be to get rid of weight the hard way. Many new college students experience the "freshman 15," a rapid weight gain that is due to the change of lifestyle, availability of junk food, and decreased activity. Liposuction is a great way to get rid of the extra fat.

Visiting the Salon

Another activity that you may not have a lot of time for during college is doing complicated hairstyles. Visiting the salon for an easy to manage hairstyle is a great idea. While there, ask the stylist to show you two or three other ways to style your hair. You can also pick up some high-quality shampoo to get you through the semester.

Getting a Manicure and Pedicure

The day before college starts, treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. The first few weeks of classes usually have warm weather, and you can show off your toes in sandals. Each time you take notes on your laptop or iPad or text a friend on your phone, you'll be able to show off the fresh color on your fingernails.

You can be fashionable in college without spending a lot of time getting ready every day. Getting the semester off to a great start with a visit to the salon and your favorite clothing store will keep you in touch with the latest trends. A little touch-up through liposuction will also provide you with a boost in your self-confidence in the college environment.
