How Many Fashionistas Are Enough

If there is one thing that I have learned during the past year, it is that the world appears to be a never ending supply of fashionistas. Just when I think we have filled the membership on the fashion industry network, another hundred people come rolling in... I wonder if I should change the system to "invite only" so that we limit the number of members. My thoughts have always been that for the fashion industry network, having a large number of members may not be a benefit. As the membership grows, it is harder to know everyone. It is also harder to police the network to make sure that everyone is posting fairly (we all want to avoid spam...). My concern is that limiting members, may help me (less work), but it may not benefit other members. The fact of the matter is that the more members we have, the more "experts" we have... The more experts, the more people to help regarding clothing & textile relevant questions. When I think about changing the network to "invite only", I certainly can see some benefits. However, I unfortunately see some down side. For example, how do I decide who to invite? If people have to apply in order to receive an invitation, that causes me even more work. I can not keep up with everything as it is... The bottom line is that the network keeps growing and their appears to be no shortage of people that have a strong interest in fashion. I will need to put more thought into the best way to slow down the membership growth on this network. Also, I will put more thought into whether or not slowing the membership is actually a benefit to existing members or not a benefit.
