Here are the rules for horses in traffic

According to Norwegian law, horses are vehicles and should go out on the road, not on walking and cycling paths. Nevertheless, there is no lower age limit for traveling by horse in traffic.

There is no statutory age limit for horse traffic in traffic. Nevertheless, it is recommended that one is 15-16 years before taking a trip in traffic alone. In the roadway

Riders and riders with a horse must follow the rules of driving traffic, even when hiring the horse.

It is therefore not legal to use a walkway, sidewalk or walkway, cycle path or cycle lane unless otherwise decided.

A rider or rider must give a clear sign with his arm, like a cyclist, to swing, turn or move sideways.

Reflection and light (Section 15 of the Traffic Rules)

Rider/driver must have reflex during all traffic in the dark or in invisible weather.

Reflective vest on rider/rider and reflective strap preferably on all horse legs, preferably also the light that glows white/yellow forward and read backward. The equipage must be visible from the front, from behind and from both sides.

Traffic rules for cars

Otherwise, riders and racers must follow the usual folding rules and signs intended for cars.

The law does not take into account what the rider/rider or the horse needs to get ahead in traffic. They need to adjust to the situations they come up with as best they can.

Outdoor law

The law gives the right to free movement on roads and paths with a riding or ravishing horse when one takes the usual considerations.

There is no free passage through the farmyard and cultivated land.

Rules for wagons

Light has been used on several wagons throughout the country, but the light is not compulsory for riding with horses in the dark until now. Nevertheless, it is important to do what you can to be safe in traffic. If it is necessary to install lights on the vehicle, there must be white lights ahead, red lights backward and yellow lights to the side, by the traffic rules.

If there is no light on the carriage or trolley, there must be reflectors mounted on both sides of the rear of the vehicle. The reflections should be shaped like triangles and have one point straight up. It alerts slow-moving vehicles.

Mandatory with bell

According to the old custom, a bell on the horse is compulsory in the period from October 14 to April 14, which is the winter season. This rule has not come out of force, and so it still applies.

This is what motorists should remember

A regular riding horse weighs around 500 kilos.

A horse that gets scared instinctively responds by fleeing from danger.

Keep a good distance. Horses can suddenly swing out or move sideways in a completely different way than a car.

Learn the signs, so you can see if the rider/rider should swing, or ask you to stop or slow down. Pay attention and follow the signals you receive.

This should keep riders in mind

One should not go out in traffic alone until one is mature, preferably 15-16 years old.

The rider must know the horse and its reaction patterns.

The horse must be adapted to the rider/jerk in size, age, and temperament.

All equipment must be serviced and maintained.

Wear a riding helmet.

Try not to split a group of horses for example when crossing a road. Horses are herdsmen, and if they have to wait, they often become uneasy or will chase after the others.

Ride on the row.

Organized riding should have a responsible tet rider and a queue rider. No one should ride in front of or behind these.

Be polite and considerate of others. Make it aware that you are there, be nice and smiling and ride past in stride.

Try to make the trip at times of low traffic.
