Since April 18, two residents have been coordinating the work of the volunteers who are mobilized to build dignified days in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough in Montreal.

Daniel Khoury manages the queries of disaster victims of the district on a daily basis. "We do not refuse any request from citizens," said Khoury.

The latter says he is lucky to have an employer (TELUS) understanding and flexible. "They understand that I'm a little less productive in the office for two weeks, but they know it's for a good cause," said Khoury Monday.

Moreover, about twenty employees of the company filled sandbags Sunday in the Pierrefonds district.

"Two quarterbacks"

"It takes someone dedicated to managing thousands of volunteers," said Borough Mayor Dimitrios Jim Beis, referring to Mr. Khoury who has been on the ground since the floods began.

"Daniel and Benoit Langevin (District Councilor of Bois-de-Liesse on the Town Council) did an amazing job. It's not just the pockets of sand, it's directing people to the affected areas and prioritizing actions on the ground, "said the mayor of Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough who nicknamed them" two quarters -back".

Facebook group

Johanne Hudon-Armstrong has also been there since April 18th. "I do it in support with my friend Jim," said the resident of Beaconsfield.

She receives requests from citizens of the West Island Flood Volunteers Facebook group. This group has more than 4,000 members looking to help West Islanders affected by the floods.

"On Saturday, we had several requests for sand pockets because of the weather," said the one who also takes calls and text messages from citizens.

Dressed in a reflective vest, Ms. Hudon-Armstrong is responsible for, among other things, directing traffic to the site and ensuring that volunteers are well hydrated and lacking nothing.

Sunday, more than 200 volunteers met in the parking lot of Pierrefonds Compressive High School to fill sandbags and send them to those who request them
