Casablanca: Fame and History

The mention of Casablanca fondly brings back memories of one Humphrey Bogart, hands down on of the cultural icons in the film industry. Of course so many others have come before him but the way he stands out amongst them all is unique, to say the least. When the American Film Institute ranks someone as the greatest male star in the history of American cinema, you surely have to appreciate the accolades that come with such honors on irariklis-trivia.com.

It was not just about how he acted, but there was something about his voice that easily made him the character of choice for anyone, kids, men and women alike. In particular he made popular the line “Here’s looking at you, kid” one of those lines that anyone would find so hard to forget. This is just but one of the most famous quotes that still go down in American film history as the greatest of all time. To be precise, he was acknowledged for not only that one, but others in the movie Casablanca. Some of these include:

  • Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship
  • Of all the gin joints in all the towns in the world, she walks into mine
  • We’ll always have Paris

Apart from that in his movie Maltese Falcon, he also made popular the phrase The stuff that dreams are made of.

The line “Here’s looking at you, kid” became such an attraction not only because of the way he said them in the movie, but also because he did repeat them 4 times in the movie. This has since gone down as one of the most common trivia questions all over the world especially in shows, while Casablanca has also earned its place in history as one of the greatest movies of all time. This particular line became quite popular and has since been used in quite a number of movies since Casablanca.

The tale behind Casablanca is something that most guys today know only too much of, a situation that most can relate to – professing their undying love for a woman. It is a story about two men who are caught up in a love triangle. It is built against a backdrop of politics and romantic espionage while at the same time embodying the concept of democracy and totalitarianism.

One of the most notable things about this movie is that it interestingly had included in the cast up to 34 nationalities, making it one of the most flawless movies to ever be created of all time. The focus of Casablanca was heavily weighed on honor, duty, lost love, romance and self-sacrifice in a world that is full of turmoil, especially since just around that time World War I and the anti-Nazi propaganda was rife.

In as much as the movie has since become one of the greatest of all time, incredibly none of those in the production ever imagined that it would end up being anything other than the usual. It has since received awards and gripped viewers all over the world for the memorable lines, the theme song and the lead characters.
