Black Face. Racism plain and simple.

French Vogue sure does know how to make a controversy. I couldn't believe their feature on Lara Stone.

This "black face" is nothing close to art. It is simply put: INSULTING. No one has the right to label this an artistic vision. For no rhyme or reason should this model have been painted black. Black face is one of the racist representation of black people. Regardless of the vision they had in mind, the editors at French Vogue should know better. It is such a sensitive and hurtful topic. Why even take the risk? Did not one person think: hey we really might offend people?! This was no way trying to represent the beauty of black women or their culture. The beauty industry for years have been flooded with the images of Caucasian beauty. Recently small break through's have been made with celebrities and models of colour changing the beauty standard. But just when I think we are starting to come along, a fashion spread like this comes to light. So my question: why not use a woman of colour? There are so many models of colour trying to make it into the industry, why not? Why not avoid the controversy and hurt to your readers French Vogue? I guess, I'll never know.
