Halloween is just around the corner and we cannot contain our excitement, after all, it gives us the perfect opportunity to dress up in our favorite villains and scare the neighborhood kids. Other than that there are tons of Halloween parties to attend and you want to dress up in most popular horror character but these parties and costumes can often take a big chunk out of your budget, which is the cause of many pals skipping Halloween parties altogether.
Being a student myself I am also on a tight budget, there are 100 costumes to go for, but the dress, props, and accessories can cost a good amount of my savings just for one night. So this year I have compiled 10 favorite and most popular Halloween characters which do not requires tons of accessories and props and the best part “you can make use of your regular clothing”. Yes I know it sounds bizarre but it these costumes tricks have kept me from draining pockets, scroll down to see how:
Jigsaw: Saw
Jigsaw is the most horrible character in the entire planet, we absolutely hated him for torturing his victims throughout the Saw series, but when it comes to Halloween jigsaw is one of the go-to characters. For this costume, all you need is a white button up shirt, red bow, and a black jacket and you are good to go. everyone owns a white shirt and black blazer so you don’t have to purchase new ones and you can wear it after Halloween again, spice this look with pasty white face red swirls on cheeks to bring jigsaw to life.
Wednesday Friday Addams: Addams Family
Growing up we loved to watch Addams family, the weird anti-social characters resonate with us to this day, although all characters were fabulous particularly Wednesday became a favorite character among all of them. You need minimal efforts to dress up as classic Wednesday, just a black mini dress some leggings and double braids and voila you have transformed Wednesday Addams. Even though everyone has a black dress in their closet but if you don’t you can buy it from any nearby store with spending much.
Annabelle: Annabelle and The Conjuring
This infamous doll has haunted many kids for numerous nights and is spooky in the daytime as well which makes her perfect Halloween character. You don’t need props and accessories to dress up as Annabelle, all you need is a white dress and wig if you are not naturally blonde otherwise faux bangs will do the trick. You can either get this dress or borrow your grandma’s nightie believe me it will do the job without spending a penny.
The nun: Nun and The Conjuring 2
This frightening character easily makes hairs stand on end, making it one of the trendiest Halloween character this year, what I like most about this character is all you need is black cloak and headscarf that’s it, and a handful of kohl and white face powder.
Lisa and Louise Burns: The Shinning
These twins are not terrifying themselves but the scene unfolds with them is dreadful which makes them the most iconic character in horror history. This costume is perfect for you and your best friend all you need is a pair of knee length white socks, plain blue dress frocks, and any black pumps will do, to make your character scarier you can get creative with your makeup.
Bette and Dot Tattler: American Horror Story
The Freakshow which was the fourth season of the famous American horror story was literally the scariest and spine tingling season, all the characters from circus were frightening and horrid but the one that stood out the most were conjoined twin sisters. The two heads one body can literally mess up your head making them legendary Halloween character to go for this year. All you need this head prop, any regular knee-length frock, scarf, headband, and pumps from your closet will transform you into this scary character.
Darla: Finding Nemo
The character is not scary at all but is one of the favorite comic characters, as annoying as she is; it is hard to forget her. If you are not a fan of dressing up as the frightening character you can opt for Darla. All you need is a tee-shirt, dungaree, pigtails, and braces prop and you are done. You can make your braces prop at home too by molding aluminum foil.
Rosie The Riveter: American World War II wartime poster
This iconic poster has played a big hand in changing roles of women in the workforce during and post-world war. It is now used as a symbol of feminism and workforce equality. To dress up as Rosie you need to dig out few things from your own closet such as plain blue-grey button-up shirt, red bandanna and then you can paint wicked eyeliner and red lips, very easy right?
Mia Wallace: Pulp Fiction
Mia Wallace is one of the most recognized legendary characters in Hollywood history. White shirt, black capris, black camisole, black pumps, and black faux bob are the essentials of this costume. You can make use of regular white shirt and pants for this legendary costume, dab on classic 80’s brown lipstick and you are ready to roll.
Farida Kahlo
Farida is not only well known and accomplished artist of her time but also stands as an exemplary feminist. She is the character recognized all around the world and a perfect setup for those who are history and art lovers. For this particular costume, you need a colorful floral dress and an elaborate flower crown. To make it more close to Farida you make craft uni-brows with makeup and you are ready to slay. It is very different yet colorful look to go for.
These 10 Halloween looks are renowned and momentous in history, in addition to being famous looks of all the times they are very easy to recreate. You don’t need to spend a fortune on these costumes you can re-fabricate these looks but utilizing the items you already own and make use of them, later on, everyday basis.
