Does Height Matter? Regarding Fashion Models

Today as I was walking thru the streets of New York City, I was reminded of the fact that their are many beautiful faces in the world. As they walked by me in the streets, I attempt to evaluate as many beautiful women as possible (don't tell my wife). I thought to myself about how many in the crowd could actually be successful as a professional model. If we are NOT professional model scouts, what do we think of as the criteria for models. In my personal opinion the words "tall" and "skinny" are first to come to mind (aside from the words "devilishly attractive"). More often then not people say to themselves, "she could definitely be a model, but she is too short". When thinking that to myself, I realized that their is a very clear distinction between a typical magazine fashion models and typical runway show models. For magazines, height should not be a critical issue. In a magazine, can the viewer really tell the height of the model... I don't think so. However, on the runway, the height is significantly more important. After all the garment needs to drape well as it flows down the runway. Anyway, I guess my point is to all of you beautiful people.. Don't be discouraged if you are vertically challenged (shorter then others). If you have the face of a model, you can be a model. Just don't apply at Fashion Week... Try a magazine instead. By the way, my wife is 5' 1" and beautiful. Well, she say's she is 5' 1" but I am fairly sure she is a tad shorter... Good luck to all of you short pretty people.
