Sretsis Parallel Universe is where anything you want to happen does happen. Anything is possible in the enchanted, wild world of Sretsis—a world full of imagination and wonder. The Sretsis Autumn/Winter 2008 “Parallel Universe” collection evokes a dreamlike landscape with wild animals, expansive skies and mythical beings. Animals figure prominently into the prints, textiles and accessories of the collection. From fur trim to digital printings of Alaskan Deer, Owls, Panthers and Unicorns on silk chiffon and silk satin, animals—real and imagined—romp through the collection. In the complementary Matina Amanita accessories collection, designed by Sretsis little sister Matina, animals like reindeer and swans are intertwined with metal jewelry. Prints of surreal landscapes from the North Pole to Loch Ness to the Moon also grace dresses and tops, conveying a colorful sense of mysticism. Like past collections, “Parellel Universe” is full of sweet details like ruffles, tiers, peter pan collars, and capelets. Sretsis mixes and matches these feminine touches with surprising prints and textures like plaids and quilted fabric. The sisters behind Sretsis envision “Parallel Universe” as a series of interlocking and interrelated pieces, a jigsaw puzzle that can be put together to reveal a hopeful, harmonious universe. Highlights of the Sretsis Spring/Summer 2008 Collection Include: Bird Of Prey Dress ($961)—This gauzy, tiered dress perfectly represents the dreamy, ethereal quality of the collection. Overlapping diagonals of silk lace sweep up toward a sheer, lightly draped neckline. Over the Rainbow Dress ($869)—A modern take on the peasant dress, this short dress is cinched at waist, with a lace trim strapless top and a whimsical rainbow print rising from the hem. Liddesdale Scallop Coat ($719)—The blue scalloped trim on this cream quilted coat evokes the clouds that drift through the entire collection, from prints to fabrics. Belted at the waist, the Liddesdale Coat buttons at the top and flares at the bottom. Lyra Fur Collar Dress ($616)—This long-sleeved, pocketed, wool mini-dress is a surprising mod twist in the flowing, ruffled collection. A wide, peaked tan stripe at the waist divides cream and blue blocks of color, while bracelet sleeves and a high neck are cuffed with brown. Mystical Unicorn Ring ($363)—This magical ring complements the dreamlike quality of the Parallel Universe collection, with a polished brass unicorn head and a translucent, glimmering stone. Rainbow Deer Earrings ($363)—Like many of the pieces in the Matina Amanita for Sretsis collection, these earrings are adorned with woodland creatures.
