Tough Love

There’s always been something exceedingly sexy about hard edged masculine dressing. Take the Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo with slick back hair and red matte lips – *super sex appeal*.But in an über modern milieu, zipped ankle boots, cuffs and leather bomber jackets are starting to materialize.I’m actually really getting into innovative polished masculinity. I never thought I would love it, but love it I do. Marlene Deitrich we salute you. It adds to the appeal if you are seventeen with a blunt fridge, olive skin and long lean stork legs. However I think there is a certain appeal for the modern “average” woman.Gucci has always been a keen protagonist of this hard-hitting glamour. However Hermes is also channelling this sexy tough girl look in their campaigns.Check out http://www.gucci.com/uk/preview/fall...womens-runway/ and prepare to drool. Oh how it brings out my inner tomboy. Do not mistake it for a gritty bondage fetish – it is more composed than that tat. It is also not even closely related to anything remotely Coyote Ugly. It is a far more mature approach. A key piece to complete the look – a chunky watch (Chanel, Tag, Diesel or Fossil) and rolled up sleeves a la Angelina Jolie. It’s grey washed jeans, identity bracelets, and fitted bomber jackets with smooth fastenings. Black suede knee high boots, nude lips and smouldering eyes complete this sophisticated look. The only thing that frustrates me is the sun. It’s a cold weather style with layering, boots and jackets – it’s not beach attire, bring on the chill!!■ BexBella
