Not being aware of what your products are made of or who created them could be harming you, other people or the environment. Innocent animals or even children might have been harmed in the making of your clothing, makeup or other items you buy. Becoming more informed will help you make smarter, more ethical choices that protect your health, animals and the planet.

Use Cruelty-Free Makeup

Animal testing is no longer necessary in the beauty industry because of advancements in technology. Therefore, the only reason to torture animals is none. You can find ethical makeup by looking for products with the cruelty-free bunny logo. You can take better care of your skin and save rabbits and other animals by using ethical makeup. Better cosmetics contain mostly natural ingredients, are hypoallergenic and safer.

Wear Faux Fur and Leather

Just because a famous designer creates fur coats and leather jackets doesn’t mean he/she can be trusted. Faux can be as attractive in appearance as the real thing, if not more. Try pairing your faux leather jacket with a men’s ultra soft flowy tee for a standout look. Make sure that your shirts state they are eco friendly and that they don't use sweatshops. Asking questions and reading the fine print before making shopping decisions will help you learn about who believes it’s acceptable to torture cute or majestic creatures. Luckily, as consumers and animal welfare activist speak up, more and more designers are using faux leather and fur in their fashion lines. A few materials you may see designers use in place of leather are recycled rubber, waxed cotton, paper and more. Having your own individual beliefs without letting others effect you will be useful in making future decisions.

Purchase Fair Trade

Not all clothing is sewn in a safe, friendly environment. One way to know if all workers were treated well is to buy clothes with the Fair Trade label. This means factory production is eco friendly, workers are safe and they earn a decent wage. Designers who use the Fair Trade label believe in human rights and protecting the earth. Those who don’t care about how their products impact workers or consumers don’t think you care as long as you keep supporting them by buying their clothing.

Purchase the things you need or want without feeling guilty, by doing the right thing. You’ll feel like a better person who has peace of mind. Save lives, be more healthy and consider informing others about how they can help the planet.
