The Cakovec champions were taught the importance of obeying traffic rules and were given reflective vests, bags, bracelets, raincoats.

The Cakovec Auto Club, the Međimurje Police Department, and the Međimurje County Traffic Safety Council have traditionally marked the beginning of the new school year with the traffic-educational campaign "Safe to School with HAK", which took place on Monday, September 16th at the Republic Square. This also marked the 50th anniversary of this action.

To teach first-grade elementary school students safe movement on their way to school, the action involved 270 elementary school students. Particular attention is paid to the training of pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, pedestrian traffic signage, pedestrian island, sidewalks and the like.

All the students who took part in the action today brought home promotional materials that would help them to be more visible while participating in traffic,  they provided with reflective vests, bags with reflective fabric, bracelets, raincoats and the like.

In addition to the participants passing customized training grounds, we also prepared a presentation of the work of the Mobile Police Prevention Center for them, to become more familiar with our activities. For many years we have been conducting such preventive actions in kindergartens as well as in primary and secondary schools, and a significant shift has been seen during this period.

"Children are not affected as pedestrians or cyclists, but a problem in road accidents, so we send a message to parents, grandmothers and anyone who transports children, to always secure them inappropriate seats and seat belts," said Alenka Hošnjak, Head of the Road Safety Department traffic of the Međimurje Police Station.

Also, this event was a great opportunity to create a joint photo intended for the Edward project, on the occasion of the European Day without Traffic Kills, in which the PU of Međimurje is included every year.
