At New York’s spring summer 2015 events there was a typical who’s who of big names in attendance – Rihanna, Rita Ora, David Beckham and Nicki Minaj were just some of the stars spotted in Manhattan as designers delivered their big reveals.

Ms Minaj was at the Versus Versace show, with the legendary Italian fashion house showing that it can still draw in a crowd, while Becks was representing Belstaff and their luxurious leather jackets. Meanwhile Rihanna looked like she was impressed at the Altuzarra fashion show and Rita Ora was taking in what Diesel Black Gold had to offer as she sat alongside Amber Le Bon and Coco Rocha.

The autumn winter shows were equally dazzling, and Grazia magazine reported from New York on what they had identified as being the top trends to see us from 2014 into 2015. Floor sweeping gowns, metallic features, plaid and even dressing gown chic were among the themes they picked up on, with whites, greys and scarlets also featuring prominently.

A number of these themes recurred at Paris’ equally glamorous Fashion Week. White, for example, featured prominently in the spring collection from Hermes – soft cream, lace and crisp cotton making appearances. Miuccia Prada, with her Miu Miu collection, incorporated plaid alongside ruffles and frills in more than one of her creations.

Another trusted fashion magazine, Harpers Bazaar, informed readers of their highlights from the French capital. Nicolas Ghesquiere was praised for his second collection for Louis Vuitton. With pre-released Instagram clues hinting at a somewhat eclectic mix, the end result was in fact creations “firmly rooted in the every day and ease”. White knit sweaters and high waisted jeans were among the simple but elegant garments worn on the catwalk.

If Ghesquiere’s collection was somewhat conventional, Sarah Burton’s output for the Alexander McQueen show was something else entirely. There were gowns and dresses that one wouldn’t be putting on to go and buy a bottle of milk – leather harnesses, chiffon ruffles, beaded mesh and tribal markings made appearances, but as Harpers Bazaar put it Burton displays a “total mastery of making clothes”.

Investing in unique creations by renowned fashion houses like the above can be once in a lifetime purchases – ensure you remember the moment for all the right reasons by using a reliable service for international payments.
