  i have an article on this site about kaftans. I don't think it is a complete article but articles on trends are never 'complete'. I hope to look at some kaftans again...I am wondering again about the shape in kaftans...also the shape in maxi dresses which were popular this year...i think the empire line was certainly important in the maxi and the empire line was important in the seventies to a certain degree but you can never generalise too much---I wonder if the empire line is more important than the hip line....when i mention the hip line.. i think of my vague knowledge of 20s fashions where the waist line went and thus the fit was taken from the waist...but i must look at all this again...i am wondering again how the hip line can be used as a guide...
  
  
  That is why I was originally publishing the article on this site under the heading; The Hip line: a style feature but I think that the present title is much better ; The title specifically refers to kaftans...I am grateful to the editor for changing the title.. The article is published on the web in other places with the title; The Hip line: style feature but somehow I don't think this is a good title...I am not sure..it is misleading perhaps...

  just a note before i sign off about the ultra suede boot---compared to a slouch suede there is certainly a lightness about ultrasuede..but i'm wondering if ultrasuede is a fabric suited to that high-thigh boot look... yes it is..obviously that smart ultrasuede thigh high boot is another product that may always have appeal...it's just that compared to the slouch suede boot...yes it is a strange comparison..and i feel that comparisons shouldn't be made...really the aim of some of the blog articles was to look at suede and it use in products because this latter area is an area i am only learning about....
  
  the smartness and elegance of suede and ultrasuede (I realise that some people may not think ultrasuede should be compared to suede..in some way they are totally different fabrics...) brings me back to the smartness and elegance of hand knitted fabrics such as knit..crochet..

  You may know that i have an article on kaftans but the article was also about the hip line and it use in 2007..if that makes sense...the first image/design on this site http://www.solitaryknitting.blogspot.com/ just made me think of my article...i know that this sweaterdress has fit around waist etc but the silhouette is important and interesting becuase it ties in with some earlier fashions - mainly the 70s influences...However besides fashion trends.. many knit designs whatever their silhouette are of lasting appeal..Fabrics and manufacture are of great interest to me...
  
  I am happy that my article was put on such a site related to knitting because knit fabrics are so important in the whole of fabrics and it is nice to know my article is relevant to hand-made textile design ; from Leather and Ultrasuede below to knit fabrics is a bit of a jump...but at them moment this comment page on fashionindustrynetwork is not really a structured commentary.....
  
  yes i was vaguely wondering about the hip line and its relevance..and whether fashion was ready to return to something fitted and the new styles in knitted designwear certainly make you ponder...

  Ultrasuede is a smart fabric. I just referred to a design idea for a suede boot- I saw an ultrasuede thigh-high boot. Maybe the height can be shortened. Boot Height too might be part of a specific fashion trend...I hope to develop this ..maybe into article...

  I just put an entry on a blog I am developing called I_Like_Leather.
  There is an obvious marked difference in prices between Suede boots. But re: design interest..slouch suede boots...they are rich...and I used the word 'breathable' on the blog...they may be suited to a certain type of person....Maybe it is the rich chocolate color that suits slouch boots...And then there is another type of Suede boot... the thigh high ultra-suede boot...And this is a much cheaper boot...and of course there's the use of Ultra-Suede rather than Suede but as a design..maybe there could be something elegant about a ultra-suede boot which doesn't go to high thigh level but maybe below...
