Worth Couture

After much anticipation Worth Couture took to the catwalk in Paris on July 3rd during Paris Couture Week. For those who dont know Charles Frederick Worth was the man who pretty much invented what we know today as the catwalk or runway show (Charles Frederick Worth launched the WORTH label in 1858  - in the US under the trademark of COURTWORTH)

In keeping with the spirit of WORTH Couture, Giovanni Bedin presented twelve couture pieces that combine precision, detail and craftsmanship with his vision and fantasy. Re-visiting the 19th century WORTH époque Giovanni creates the mastery for which he is recognized; feminine corsetry combined with a mélange of structured, masculine tailoring.

Bedin creates his new shape for Autumn 2012/2013, the “Body-Jacket”, constructed to define and embellish the feminine shape with an ultra-contemporary sharp cut. The masculine/feminine combination is worked through the entire collection. Bedin’s couture is renowned for its excellence within luxury fashion and this season represents itself through structured body-jackets. Neutral tones accentuate the shape and silhouettes. The gold and silver embellishment that adorns throughout the collection creates an appealing finish.

Jersey and silk devore lurex are used for the tailoring. Bedin’s signature fabrics; delicate laces and soft leather are ever present, highlighting the sensuality and femininity of the looks. Stunning silhouettes are created with the use of duchesse satin and beautiful white plumes from Maison Lemarié, paying homage to the heritage of the Parisian Atelier.

Carla Maria Orsi Carbone has created a fabulous “snake-earring” for the WORTH Couture Collection; white gold, yellow and white gold set with diamonds and precious stones, complimenting the collection beautifully.

Philip Treacy has graciously collaborated with WORTH by creating lace embellished fedora hats that enhance the androgynous theme.

Walter Steiger has furnished both shoes and boots.

In an exciting collaboration with Luxury Briefing and their Future Luxe conference, WORTH is using the power of technology to stream this season’s WORTH Couture A/W 2012 -13 show from Hotel du Crillon, Paris to Bloomberg's headquarters in the City of London. These two cities will sum up Future Luxury at Bloomberg, as today, and as years ago, they remain the bookends for Charles Frederick Worth.
