Skin is one of the most obvious signs of aging. It becomes dry, pale wrinkled and thin. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. If you are willing to put in a little work, you can keep your skin looking younger well into your older years. The key is to start early and be consistent. What you do now is just as important for your skin as what you do in ten years. You’re never too young to start thinking about healthy skin. Even if you think you’re already past the point of no return, you can do things to help rejuvenate and restore your skin.

Proper and Healthy Diet

The simplest solution to healthier skin is to feed it right and keep it hydrated. Your skin is incredibly regenerative, but it needs the right materials. This includes eating healthy oils like olive oil along with plenty of fruits and vegetables. The hailed Mediterranean diet recommends foods that are perfect for maintaining healthy skin. Don’t think that slathering your skin with vitamin infused creams will do the trick, either. Most of the nutrients that benefit your skin must come from food.

If you are having skin problems early in life, then diet is probably the number one reason. Your body is a mastermind of efficiency and survival. This means it will take from less important organs to ensure more important organs stay healthy. When you are nutrient deficient, your skin and nails are the first things to deteriorate because your body is sacrificing them to keep the rest of you alive. Pay attention to these health signs and change your diet.

Hydration

Staying hydrated is important for skin health. When you are dehydrated, your skin becomes dry and brittle. It may crack or even bleed. Sometimes skin is dry to due to environmental conditions or chemicals you have touched like bleach or rubbing alcohol, but if your entire body feels dry and scratchy, then you are probably just dehydrated.

You are also more likely to be dehydrated if you drink too much coffee or alcohol. These drinks force liquid out of your body. If you drink many cups of coffee a day, make sure you are supplementing with extra water to make up for the loss. The same goes for alcohol.

Nightly Cleansing

Many people wash their face in the morning to get ready for the day, but cleansing your pores at night is equally if not more important. Your skin rejuvenates primarily at night, and you can help this process along by giving skin cells a clean place to work.

In addition to your daily cleanser, you can use glycolic acid and retinol pads on your face and hands daily. This helps to reduce wrinkles and restore elasticity to the skin.

Stimulate Skin Regeneration

There are some products that may stimulate your skin’s natural cellular regeneration. When combined with a healthy diet and proper sleep and hydration, these regenerative products may provide an extra boost of rejuvenation. ASEA skin care products are one example of a formula that stimulates cellular regeneration, and works to lower inflammation and oxidation that damages skin. Overtime, damaged and unhealthy skin will be repaired and restored.

Avoid Sun Damage

Having a beautiful bronze beach body may seem like the thing to do if you want to look young and sexy, but those temporary good looks come with a heavy price tag later. While mild to moderate sun exposure has health benefits, getting enough sun to tan naturally is probably too much sun for your skin. Those who tan regularly are also much more likely to sunburn either mildly or severely, and this causes extra damage to skin.

Exposure to UV radiation breaks down skin cells, reduces elasticity and may contribute to skin cancer. Remember that a tan, caused by melanin, is actually your body’s way of protecting itself from harmful radiation exposure. Those who tan often are likely to look much older than they should later in life.

Avoid tanning beds at all costs. When you are out in the sun for prolonged periods, use sunscreen. If you want the tan look, then use a self-tanning solution or spray tan. Aside from a mild dose of chemicals, these products cause far less damage to your skin than sun exposure.

You can have healthy and young looking skin at just about any age if you take care of your skin properly every day. Healthy skin is more than just a sign of youth and beauty, it is also a sign of overall health. If you are struggling with skin issues, take a good look at your health in general and take steps to improve. Healthier skin usually equates to a healthier you.
