This New Scholarship Could Launch Your Fashion Design Career

Proving there’s much more to The Dubai Mall than new-season styles, the EMAAR brand has launched a new collaboration with the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) aimed at celebrating the next generation of women in fashion. Part of the mall’s International Women’s Month, the three-week campaign culminates with the awarding of The Dubai Mall Scholarship by DIDI Dean, Sass Brown to an incoming student. Open to female students enrolled at DIDI, the prize is a full four-year Bachelor of Design scholarship launching with the Fall 2018 intake.

The first year of the annual initiative also includes Women’s Talks, a series of in-conversation events that invite influential women from design and education backgrounds to share their professional experiences in one of The Dubai Mall’s café venues. Speakers include Helen Uzaizi, CEO of BizWorld UAE; Nayla Al Khaja, the UAE’s first female film director; and Dr. Reem El Mutwalli, a cultural educator and scholar.

Throughout the month, visitors will also be able to examine Pillars of Success, a retrospective on the Arab Women Awards’ winners, which profiles 90 Arab women from the region, and leave their own message of strength on the Weigh This activation. The Souk Atrium will also showcase female artists with a live calligraphy art showcase running from 22-31 March, 2018.
