Romantic Things to do this Valentine's Day

"Where there is love there is life,” Mahatma Gandhi once said. If you’ve been in love before, you know that relationships need to be worked out, to be nourished in order to grow and to survive. Remember those people you were once close with but not anymore? You all forgot to set aside time to witness each others’ lives. The next thing you know, you’ve become estranged.

Sweet, special Valentine

Of all the 365 or 366 days in a year, there is one year that prompts us all to remember the people we love, most especially that person who’s been putting up with our best selves and worst moods. This is why Valentine’s Day is important. More than just a time to dress up and follow Valentine’s Day beauty ideas, it’s that one day in the year when we pay tribute to our significant other.

That said, it’s time to block off your schedule, turn off your cellphones and drop everything because this Valentine’s, it’s all about you and the love of your life. Here are 8 of the best and most romantic things that you can do together this whole month of love:

1. Order and deliver her favorite cup of coffee. It’s a simple gesture that shows her you care. Have her cup ready by the bedside by the time she wakes up. Let her senses awaken to the warm aroma of coffee beans and your arms wrapped around her. Share the view from your apartment. How about a sandwich to go with that? You can take the romance one step further by preparing a no-sweat french toast to go with her coffee.

2. Try a new sport. It may be indoor rock climbing, outdoor biking, karting or some extreme sport. The point is for you to learn a new hobby together, something that you can both grow to love, keep doing, keep bonding over and even deliberately make time for in the years to come. Don’t get frustrated if you end up disappointed. Keep trying. You’ll find that one activity you’ll both love to do, other than sex of course.

3. Go on a food tasting adventure. Break free from your usual routine and instead, go on date nights to explore every alien dish and new joint around town. Don’t limit your choices to expensive chef-run restaurants. Go break in that latest food cart craze everybody’s been babbling about. Experience the world’s cuising  by trying everything from Thai to Mediterranean to African.

4. Reminisce. Drive to that old town where you two first met. Eat in that 60’s diner where you first asked her out on a date. Take a trip to the old walkway where you used to hold hands while walking back in that era when you didn’t need a Dermisa Skin Fade to treat damages caused by nightly partying and laughing your hearts out. Fall in love like young lovers all over again.

5. Play like kids. Stop being a grown up for a day. Isn’t it so stressful to be worrying about the bills, about your promotion, about that leak in the basement, or the kids’ education all the time? This time, take your woman out and agree to leave all your worries behind. Your only topic for the night is you and your history together. The best place to do that is to have a date at an amusement park. Take the rides you once frequented and too afraid to try lately. Binge on corndogs and cotton candies. Share a cone of ice cream on your way home.

6. Make it a karaoke night. Sing your hearts out to the soundtrack of your life and love. Dance, drink, sing and party. Tonight, you’re both partying like you don’t have any worries. The sun can come out and you can only care about singing. Let it shine!

7.Take a boat ride or a train ride. If you’re feeling adventurous, pick a random station to disembark at and stroll around town. Try the eats and the bars that you can find. Ride a cab back and stop at a gelato  bar to cap the night with a sweet treat. Make it for sharing.

CONCLUSION

Sometimes, enjoying the spirit of Valentine’s only takes a combination of creativity and a genuine goal of letting your significant other know how much she is loved. You don’t need a string quartet or a fancy hotel room to do that.
