Makeup Mirrors Fashion Trends

As we keep seeing again and again on the runway, this season’s trend is slim-cut, tailored clothing with crazy prints. Clearly, this combination of restraint and over-the-top edginess is something that should be mirrored in makeup as well.

Choose one part of the face to highlight – and highlight it. This means, don’t just address that part of the face as you would normally – don’t just wear toned-down face makeup and then only your regular eyeliner. Really accent that one feature. If you choose to accent your liner, try doing a modern cat eye with a teal liner colour. Or do super exaggerated smoky eyes, possibly even bringing the black shadow below the eye as well.

Try a crazy eye shadow colour – like hot pink, sage green, or metallic purple – and sweep it high above the eye to make it really stand out.

If your lips is what you choose to accent, don’t settle for the traditional red or bright pink, but try a neon colour, or a coral-orange or even blue or green.

With all of these crazy new colours coming into fashion, there’s a whole new range of makeup products that one needs to buy to supplement a standard collection, since most people don’t already have palettes full of shimmering metallics in purple, teal, or green or neon-coloured lipsticks.

Pain for your wallet aside, this is the perfect time to experiment with all the colours you’ve always wanted to wear but never felt brave enough to. Now, it’s fashion.
