LA Creativity At Its Best With Musician Sonnet

LA: A city that houses aspiring actors, up and coming musicians, amazing contemporary art and let’s face it, the best damn food trucks in the US! Kogi (Korean BBQ) and Sprinkles (cupcakes that trump Magnolia) started here, baby! Every where I turn, these industries are sliding and colliding into fashion. We blur the lines every day between fashion, food, art, technology and music.

My latest intersections with fashion come from FMM guest writer Laurie Brucker. She’s the woman whom I model outfits for on Skype and the person I trust for all kinds of recommendations. A few months ago, way before Burberry was live, hip and acoustic, she introduced me to emerging musician Sonnet. Sonnet’s live performances evoke Joss Stone and Robyn. Now Sonnet’s working on a new EP that’s more ABBA meets Blondie meets modern pop. I fed my inner groupie that was never born and worked (I was the one who found the jewelry!) with Laurie on Sonnet’s latest shoot for her song “Seesaw”.

Laurie talks about the look:

“When pulling styles and jewelry for Sonnet’s music video, I was keeping a couple ideas in mind. There were strong themes about dreams happening throughout the video, and as all of our dreams can be, these themes run the spectrum of dark and moody to bright and fantastical.

The idea of a ’seesaw’ is contrasted by the absolutely dreamy image of Sonnet in a gown — looking completely gorgeous, stunning, and pristine. The dress and the scene were beautiful, but I’m always looking for the perfect topper to take an idea to the next level; the Liz Larios blue agate necklace did just that.

The necklace is the perfect color to tie all the scenes’ colors together and to strategically make Sonnet’s baby blues pop. The video depicts a dream sequence, so the color gives Sonnet the look of ‘This is real’ and ‘I am real.’ It’s a message that will resonate very strongly with her fans."
