Designers— seems like the proposed law to protect original designs is making progress and University of Southern California researcher Johanna Blakley has something else she’d like to say about it. Just to remind you, Blakley gave a pretty important speech at the TEDxUSC conference back in April (which we highly suggest you watch). During her talk, she covered The “Innovative Design Protection” act, a bill formed by the Council Fashion Designers of America and American Apparel Footwear Association that would provide designers with more property ownership rights.

Now that the bill is ever closer to law, Blakley is piping up again. “Although this version of the bill is far less ridiculous than earlierversions, I still think it’s a terrible mistake,” she said. Keep readingto hear why.
