If you haven't heard the name FAREN yet, get ready!

3 weeks ago, four of Canada's hottest young Designers showed their best at the 2009 Annual TFI New Labels Competition. As part of the ELLE Fashion & Beauty Show, this year's gala drew a crowd of over 600 Fashionable supporters.

The 4 Designers: Cheryl Gushue, Jody Leigh, Sonja den Elzen and Faren Tami brought their creativity, innovation and savoir faire to the Runway with the legendary Carlu buzzing with excitement. And after a difficult deliberation by noteworthy competition judges, a winner emerged from the pack.

With her dramatic collection inspired by the futuristic aesthetic of eco-friendly architecture, Faren Tami of Faren was crowned the winner of the ELLE Canada New Labels Fashion Award 2009, a Grand Prize package valued at $25,000!


The looks were unique and clever. Mixing black, blue, silver, white and yellow was sharp, in a timeless fashion. The identical and almost robot-like of her silhouettes amused me, they looked like girls from the 60's lost in a space ship somewhere in the Galaxy, looking for a new world to conquer with their witty charm and sophistication.

She certainly represents the Future of Canada’s avant-garde fashion.
