Two online fashion firms are relocating to Sunset Park’s innovation hub at Industry City.
Material Wrld, an online platform that offers customers the opportunity to exchange their unwanted designer clothes for gift cards, and The Line, a curated e-commerce fashion and home décor company, are relocating to a combined 25,000 s/f at the six million square foot complex.

Material Wrld will move 20 employees into a 14,500 s/f space this coming September. The five-year lease, which was signed in May, was negotiated by Scott Brown of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank on behalf of Material Wrld, and by the internal leasing team for Industry City.
“Material Wrld is excited to join the community at Industry City alongside other fashion companies, tech startups, and creative firms,” said Jie Zheng, Material Wrld Co-Founder. “We love the community Industry City has fostered with its Food Hall, summer happy hours, and rooftop film series, and its commitment to sustainability and supporting the local community.”
The Line leased 11,500 s/f in a waterfront building. The five-year lease was signed in May without any brokers. The startup will set up shop in their new space in this fall.
Material Wrld and The Line join a diverse tenant mix at Industry City that comprises the full range of companies in the growing innovation economy sector, including fashion, food photography, art and design, manufacturing, media, and technology.
Notable tenants include Alexandra Ferguson, BaubleBar, Brooklyn Nets, Car2Go, David Stark, Doob, Design within Reach, Malia Mills, Shyp, Steven Alan, The Brooklyn Rail and West Elm.
Industry City has signed 1.35 million square feet of new leases under the new ownership, including Time Inc. earlier this summer.
Time Inc. will be relocating 320 employees in the company’s technology, content solutions and editorial innovation departments in 55,000 square-foot space at Industry City.
The recent leasing activity follows a series of announcements that includes the $1 billion redevelopment plan for the property and WiredScore Certification for 10 Industry City buildings, including three which received Platinum Certification.
