Fashion & Film - Klute

Klute (1971)
Is the story of a detective whose good friend suddenly goes missing. The only clue he can find is that his friend visited a call girl Bree (Jane Fonda). While investigating Bree he discovers that someone is following her.

The plot of the story honestly less then thrilled me but Jane Fonda was inspirational (she won an oscar for her role in 1972). There is something about a woman that makes them a fashion icon, that carefree attitude mixed narcissism. Sexually frustrated women also seem to make interesting characters that we all can't help but be interested in

What is most interesting about this look is it is something a hooker would wear yet it can also be considered classic. The trench is timeless. I realize that isn't a complete sentence but it is a point that can't be argued. It is amazing to think of WWI soldiers hiding in the trenches starting a fashion movement but that's what they did and the trench coat hasn't gone out of style since. Another notable piece in this ensemble is her thigh high leather boots (I would die for them)! It's funny to compare this outfit to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. It is no wonder that these boots are often called hooker boots and only worn for Halloween or seductive purposes. Thank god for this past falls' thigh high boot trend making the boots fashionable instead of trashy! Also love her fringed bag, turtle neck, mini, and huge buckled belt. Overall this is a timeless look!

Love how much leg she is always showing off! This season Spring/Summer 2011 mini was all over, even those who before thought that this was just a look for the younger generation are biting there tongue. The new rule is if you got it flaunt it! While this look is a little out dated today we can still take out the main details and make them modern. A peasant top with jeans, red leather skirt with a simple black top, fringed bag with jeans and a tee, or thigh high boots with little skirts (as long as your top is not revealing).

If you love 1970's fashion watching this movie is a must for you! If not you can still have fun channeling Bree and looking fabulous!
