Here come the brides!

The Knot recently announced WNBA star Elena Delle Donne and her fiancee, Amanda Clifton, as the website's 2017 Dream Wedding couple. Donne and Clifton are the first same-sex couple to be featured.

The Knot, one of the largest wedding planning websites, started Dream Wedding in collaboration with the "Today Show" in 2000. Viewers planned a couple’s wedding, voting on everything from the venue to the dress. In 2013, the company switched to a live-streamed format, with wedding details planned by The Knot experts and elements voted on by everyday people.

“Getting married is something every girl dreams about, and working with The Knot is truly surreal,” Delle Donne said in a press release. “Amanda and I want nothing more than to bring our family and friends together and have the best time ever."

Delle Donne, who played with the Chicago Sky for four seasons, was recently traded to the Washington Mystics. She met Clifton through mutual friends four years ago. They announced their engagement — made possible with the help of their two dogs — shortly before Delle Donne left to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

While Dream Wedding couples aren't always celebrities, The Knot aims to choose people with "a strong message, inspiring cause and/or a unique story to share," said Kristen Maxwell Cooper, executive editor.

The June wedding will feature a charity registry in lieu of gifts, with proceeds going to the Elena Delle Donne Foundation. The charity benefits the special needs community and those with Lyme disease — both causes close to the couple. The wedding will also feature environmentally friendly elements — like locally sourced food and flowers — when possible.

“We’ve never seen a couple more passionate about giving to others than Elena and Amanda,” said Kellie Gould, editor-in-chief of The Knot in a press release. “It was an easy decision for us to offer the Dream Wedding to this truly selfless couple.”

As for the honeymoon? That element is up to voters this year.
