However, before making a purchase of diamond rings it is essential to keep the four C’s in your mind. This basically refers to the cut, clarity, color and the carat of the diamond.

• Cut – this is the most important category while choosing a diamond engagement ring as the brilliance of your diamond depends upon its cut. A well cut diamond always represents the angle and finish which allows it to handle light in a better manner and hence reflect more brilliance than any other stone. However, if the diamond is not cut in a proper manner it can lead to improper light reflection from the bottom or the sides and hence prevents the diamond to give an intrusive sparkle and brilliance.

• Clarity – the clarity in a diamond refers to the number and size of inclusions or inner flaws that a diamond has. These inclusions generally occur during the formation of the diamond. However, diamonds that are clear and have a maximum clarity gives you an extraordinary brilliance. Price of the diamond can be determined and vary according to this factor of occurrence in diamond. While certain inclusions and inner flaws are not visible to the naked eye, it is advisable not to buy diamond that are rated as I1-I2-I3 due to inner flaws and inclusions that are present in the rock.

• Color – diamonds are available in different colors and texture and color is considered to be the most desirable factor when it comes to buying engagement rings. If you are planning to set your ring on platinum or white gold, it is advisable to a higher color grade diamond such as red or blue. However, if you are willing to set it on yellow gold then opting for lower grade diamond will make it look more attractive and beautiful.

• Carat – it is basically a unit which is used to measure the weight of the diamond. Large sized diamond has a greater carat value and hence makes it more expensive than low carat value.
