Causes: Art of Fashion

Covenant Care is presenting its 13th annual Art of Fashion event, which will include a silent auction, a luncheon, local “pop-up” shop vendors and a fashion show presented by local boutiques. The 2017 event raised over $46,000 — a 30 percent increase over 2016.

“All of the money raised supports Covenant’s hospice patients and families, including our specialized bereavement and children’s programs. Every additional dollar that is donated at the event allows us to support more families in need of support,” said Christie Parker, Covenant Care director of annual fund and donor relations.

The Art of Fashion continues to grow each year and brings new opportunities for the vendors and attendees.

“Art of Fashion is a chance to grab a bunch of your girlfriends and make memories,” said Parker.

She notes there will be fresh faces and familiar ones on the runway, fabulous auction packages and that it will be an experience to remember. A few of the local celebrities to be seen on the runway are: Kelly MacLeod, Nicole Webb, Jessica Lee, Jon Shell, Mallory Studer, Debbie Ciano, Tia Robbins and Michelle Salzman.

With the event beloved by the community, it’s no surprise that volunteers and boutique vendors love being involved each year.

Madrina Ciano, the volunteer event chair said, “I love the work that Covenant Care does, and I absolutely love working with Christie Parker. This event is a stylish and uplifting experience, a good time with my friends and a fun way to give back to an organization that gives so much.”

Brenda Carraway, owner of The Bridal Loft, which has shown on the runway since the event’s inception, says the event is a great way to “to catch up with all of our friends each year and reminisce about years past. As a small business owner, giving back and supporting local charity is always heartwarming. Pensacola has supported us all of these years. We are grateful and want to show our appreciation.”

Adding “pop-up” shops for attendees to browse and shop at before the event was a popular new addition last year and is returning with more vendors this year. The shops offer guests the opportunity to pick up chic styles and on-trend accessories.、

Many artists understand fashion. They can create beautiful artworks if they find inspiration in fashion. Also, there are people who like functional fine art because it can be easily integrated into the decor, in a room. This addition will make the room more interesting.
