You’ve set a date, the venue is booked, you're flipping through bridal magazines and pinning pictures of bouquets and table settings.

The year leading up to a wedding can be a frenzy of decision making, planning, budgeting and excitement. Everyone has a different vision of what their wedding will be like - but one thing every bride wants is to look like the best version of herself on the Big Day.

But rather than attempting to cram every facial and hair appointment into the already packed month ahead of the wedding, consult experts early so they can help you plan your treatments according to your needs.

FEMAIL has spoken with the top beauty industry insiders to compile the ultimate guide to take you from one year out to the days leading up to the walk down the aisle.

ONE YEAR TO GO

One year may seem like a lifetime to a bride-to-be, but if you are planning any major makeovers, now is the time to start.

‘This is the time for the big ticket items!’ Kaye Scott, Co-Director of celebrity favourite The Clinic tells Daily Mail. ‘If you’re considering injectables, it’s best to do six to 12 months in advance so you get used to the look.’

‘Touch base with skin clinician to discuss goals and initiate your skin regime, including products with active ingredients. It is important to make sure you’re on active products for skin turnover, brightening and hydration. Something we highly recommend for brides is a brightening serum with Vitamin C.’

Have an unsightly tattoo you know will clash with your wedding dress? Depending on the size and colour, you’ll want to start thinking about removal now.

‘It’s best to start treating your tattoo as early as possible as responses to treatment can vary due to individual tattoo and patient variation,’ advises Dr Terence Poon of Neutral Bay Laser & Dermatology Clinic. ‘A large colourful tattoo may take between four to eight treatments spaced six weeks apart - so 12 months is a good rule of thumb for such a tattoo.’

‘The Picosure represents a breakthrough in the removal of tattoos with laser. Older Q-switched laser technology often required many more treatments compared to the Picosure. The Picosure is able to break down tattoo ink particles into much smaller fragments which are easier for the body’s immune scavenger cells to remove. Hence tattoos can be removed more quickly and effectively using this laser.’ The treated area will blister and scab over in the days following the appointment, and should be kept moist with Vaseline.

Salon Partner at Oscar Oscar Paddington, Paloma Rose Garcia, recommends scheduling in all of your appointments well in advance so you can rest easy. 'At 12 months out, we always run out a thorough hair diagnosis so we know what is required to have your hair at its glowing best,' she says. 'Ask your hairdresser to run a diagnostic on your hair and prescribe a treatment schedule that will work on this for you.'

Currently brunette but dream of being a blonde bride? Absolutely do not attempt to do this at the last minute. ‘For a drastic colour change, you need to start a year out,’ Courtney Bates, Oscar Oscar's Artistic and Technical Director, advises. ‘Trying to do this over a short time period will cause too much damage.

‘Do it over a slower process to build that colour up over time, so your hair is healthier - you’d hate to get to the wedding and you’ve got your colour you want but it looks dry and damaged.’ And of course, if it turns out to be a mistake, you have plenty of time to reverse it.

SIX MONTHS TO GO

A wedding is often the motivation a bride needs to really invest in fixing longtime skin problems such as acne scarring or sun damage, and six months is plenty of time to address it. 'Perhaps your wedding day is providing an excuse to finally repair more long term damage,' says Kaye Scott. 'Fraxel is a non-invasive laser therapy targeting the deep layers of the skin for collagen production, and the most effective treatment for pigmentation, freckles, sun spots, melasma and overall rejuvenation.

'A single treatment produces substantial results, however a series of three treatments over six months will produce long term improvement.' Each treatment costs an eye-watering $1,500, so it depends on how much cash you're willing to splash to look like Kim Kardashian, who is a fan of Fraxel, and there is up to five days of downtime afterwards.

If you have more discreet inking to remove, six months is plenty of time to have it vanished in time for the wedding. ‘A small black tattoo may be easier to treat and need fewer treatments, so six to nine months out may be a reasonable starting point,’ says Dr Poon.

Every bride dreams of that shine, healthy mane of hair, and Oscar Oscar’s Courtney says starting treatments half a year out will achieve optimum health for your hair. ‘Start treatments or glosses every four weeks from about six months out from the wedding if you want to see a noticeable difference.

‘I would recommend the Kerastase Rituals ($40), you can customise it to your needs – and for a wedding you want moisture and shine. Shades EQ Gloss from Redken will also give you pigment, shine and colour.’

THREE MONTHS TO GO

It’s crunch time now, and the beauty regime is in full force. ‘This is when the treatment plan really starts to be beneficial and is the optimal time to get great results for your skin,’ Kaye Scott said.

‘Think brightening and plumping. For younger brides or those that don't have a lot of damage, we recommend Pellevé and the Blueberry peel treatments. Pellevé is a treatment that uses radiofrequency to firm and stimulate collagen. There’s no down-time and is an excellent treatment to have right up until the day beforehand. Consider that for best results, Pellevé ($500) should be done as a course of between three and five treatments, monthly.

'Using lactic acid and antioxidants, our Blueberry peel provides deep exfoliation and will leave you with a smoother, lustrous complexion. Results are evident after a single treatment, but best results come from a series of three treatments, four weeks apart.’ There is no down time following either of these facial treatments.

Many brides up their gym sessions in preparation for the wedding dress, but that stubborn middle section that refuses to go away can require extra help. A new non-invasive contouring treatment has proven extremely popular with Australian brides since arriving last year.

A hyperthermic laser melts away fat, which is then gradually metabolised by the body producing a slimming effect, and is clinically proven to spot reduce fat on the flanks or belly by 24 per cent after one 30 minute treatment (from $500). Waves of cooling and heating constantly monitored by a technician who makes adjustments depending on the client's tolerance.
