Brazilian fashion may be best known for skimping on fabric (itty-bitty bikinis are one of the country’s most recognizable design contributions) but it certainly doesn’t come up short when it comes to creativity.

Case in point: In preparation for FN’s Made in Brazil special issue, shot on location in São Paulo, the fashion team was introduced to over 50 new brands. Not only are they expressively Brazilian, but all are made in Brazil as well.
It’s a place that has never been afraid of vivid color, and with Olympics spirit in full swing, the story came together as a celebration of personality-packed footwear, clothing and accessories from the nation’s brightest lights.
In order to properly showcase the modernity of Brazilian fashion today, the right location was needed, which is especially true when you consider how forward-thinking native architects are, from Oscar Niemeyer to Brule Max.
What better setting than Escapço Cultural Porto Seguro, a new arts and culture center designed by São Paulo Arquitetura’s Miguel Muralha and Yuri Vital and located in the city’s emerging Campos Elíseos?
Photographer Fred Othero and producer Marina Felicio brought together a team of top talent, including models Babara Valente and Ariane Norbel. Together, they showed off the season’s key trends in the Brazilian market: flatforms, novelty wedges, chunky heels, sports sandals and embroidered loafers.
