As a hair stylist it is important to know information about all sorts of hair products, color, cuts, styles, and of course extensions. Of course there are a few in the bunch who may have no clue about how to put extensions in using different methods, if you can color them, or even how to wash them.  We are going to go over the things you need to know, the things your hairdresser should tell you, and the things they won’t tell you.

Fastening Virgin Hair Extensions

As with anything, there are several methods on how to put your hair extensions in and the hair dresser should be aware of them. The extensions can be glued in, clipped in, fused, or even set into a u shaped wig. If you made an appointment to have your hair extension glued in cancel the appointment! This is a sure way for your hair dresser to get money and for your extensions to only last 4 weeks. This method allows the hair dresser to glue in your extensions to your natural hair which not only causes damage, but will make the extensions look horrible once your hair grows. The other methods are doable by any hair dresser, but I would recommend getting reviews if you want your hair fused together by poly glue.

Coloring Virgin Hair Extensions

There are two different types of virgin hair extensions: true virgin extensions and colored virgin hair extensions. Yes, true virgin extensions can of course be colored professionally, or even out of the box because it is real human unprocessed hair. However, you can also purchase colored virgin hair extensions. This is where the extensions are real human hair and the only processing done to it is the coloring, which you choose upon ordering. What would you rather do? Pay for virgin hair extensions, and then pay for a professional coloring at your local salon every month, or would you rather pay the initial cost for the colored virgin extensions which remain the same color of which you desire. I think the most cost efficient way if to just buy the colored extensions whether than pay your hairdresser an arm and leg to get the extensions colored every month, but of course your hair dresser would never tell you that!

Washing Your Virgin Hair Extensions

Maybe you have already done your research so you know all of the basic tricks to caring for your extensions. On the other note, maybe you trust your hairstylist to give you all of the details while they are fastening the extensions. However the truth of the matter is that hairdressers are in it for the money, so they may telling you the wrong information so you end up back in their chair paying for more than you have to. The truth is that you should only be washing your extensions with safe conditioner to hydrate your new locks and not strip them of natural oil from your naturally growing hair. Only shampoo it once or twice a week if it gets dirty. So, if you here that you should be washing it every other day like your growing hair the hairdresser is wrong and it’s time to switch to a different chair!
