The smokey eye is a beauty trend that has been around for centuries, come to think of it, it’s kind of wrong calling it a trend now is it? A very popular lady by the name of Cleopatra started this whole look with a kohl pencil. Although her makeup look was way more dangerous than the products we have in the market now considering her kohl pencil was laced with lead. Yikes. If you want a sultry look like Cleopatra, then continue reading below.
The first trick I will be discussing is a play by play of how to put on a smokey eye. If you are a newbie, I would recommend you use a palette to ensure that the colors you will be using would look good and can mix well together. After you prime your eyes, use the lightest shade (almost white) to highlight and lift the area right below your brows. You then fill your eyelids with the darkest shade or whatever shade that you want as a base for your look. Then take a slightly lighter color to blur and blend the harsh lines you may have created in the previous step. Take another dark shade then use this on the outer part (it kind of looks like a V shape) of your eye. You can continue to blend the eyeshadows out, and you can even top it off with a nice cat eye eyeliner. To fake the look of thick eyelashes, you can also apply black eyeliner on your waterline.
Now that that’s done I will be further discussing with you different ways to highlight your amazing smokey look using full and beautiful lashes. My first tip would be to use false eyelashes to fake full lashes. Check skin care reviews online to check what false brand or type of false eyelashes you would like.
A little life hack I would like to share with you that changed the way I applied my mascara, is to use your blow dryer. All you have to do is direct the blow dryer at full heat towards your eyelash curler, give it a good 10 to 15 seconds. Then curl your lashes. Just remember to check the temperature of the curler first as it may be too hot and could burn you. You will look like you have permed lashes. Your lashes will not be weighed down by mascara and will stay curled all day.
You can try home remedies for eyelash growth like using castor oil to encourage the growth of thicker and stronger eyelashes. You can do this by using either a q-tip or an old eyeliner brush to apply castor oil along your lash line. I would advise you to use this at least 30 minutes before going to bed to ensure that it has been fully absorbed. Castor oil can be pretty messy when not fully dried. You will see results in 2 to 4 weeks.
Another do it yourself hack for thicker eyelashes is by using a simple cotton ball. All you need to do is to run your mascara brush with a cotton ball after applying your first coat of mascara. Then apply the cotton fiber filled coat of mascara. You can repeat these two steps until you achieve the desired result. It’s like instant fiber mascara. Who would have thought that a simple household product like a cotton ball could elevate the look of your lashes so quickly?
When all else fails, you can also purchase eyelash growth serums from your department store. These serums usually contain hyaluronic acid and biotin. Some of them even boast anti-aging properties. These can fully improve the look of your lashes. A excellent product like the Essence of Argan works by making the lashes dark and thick. Argan oil, which comes from the Argan Tree, has been around for thousands of years and has been used by both men and women to encourage hair growth. In fact, argan oil is usually infused to products like shampoos and hair growth serums.
