6 Streetwear Brands for Women

Women’s streetwear is constantly evolving, with new trends popping up left, right and centre. Streetwear has been dominated by men, and even as more women began establishing themselves as world-famous designers and creators, there was still work to be done to bridge the gap. Thankfully, women are increasingly represented in the streetwear sector, with many options to choose from, as dominant ideas of ‘feminine fashion’ are being thrown out the window thanks to many unisex clothing collections. Womens urban clothing is on the rise, so here are a few brands offering streetwear for women that is completely on trend.

Vetements

This bang-on-trend brand is proof that women's street wear is slowly working its way into the luxury world of fashion. Vetements grew out of a young group of designers who were fed up of the cycle fashion was in, and wanted to completely test the industry with their designs. The unisex brand doesn’t focus on gender, instead it concentrates its attention on making great clothes. This is an important development in solving the issues faced in the streetwear sector of fashion, as gender isn’t a focus. They certainly packed a punch and were soon stocked in a range of luxury stores including Selfridges, meaning that of course, these luxury items come with a luxury price tag. For those of you that have the budget to opt for luxury streetwear, look no further than Vetements.

Bape

For killer streetwear fuelled by Japanese inspiration, look no further than Bape. The label was born in Tokyo in the 90’s and has risen to the top as one of streetwears most inspirational brands of the moment. Combining elements of trainers, graphics and toys, the bold designs, bright colours and prints are perfect for those of you wanting to stand out.

Huf

The founder Keith Hufnagel grew up skateboarding in New York, experiencing the nitty-gritty of what the city has to offer, at a time when skateboarding was seen as abject. This idea of counterculture is what underpins Huf and its ethos, as Hufnagel’s experiences shaped who he is today. He created Huf as a combination of a range of skateboarding, streetwear and sneaker fashion, all of which is held together with the strong belief that skateboarding is more than just a hobby, but a way of life that brings together musicians, artists, photographers and many other like minded people. His aim is to express all of these ideas through his collections, and shows that when creative people are bought together, things like gender simply aren’t important, which is emphasised through his unisex clothing lines.

Be Yourself

For a chilled streetwear vibe, opt for Be Yourself Clothing. This relatively new brand is offering sleek and simple streetwear items that can be dressed up or down, and although they might not have as much of a strong background as some of the other brands mentioned here, it’s looking as if they’re going to have a strong future. Pair the Be Yourself Signature Joggers in Grey with The Women’s Crop Hoodie in Black for your relaxed weekend style. To dress it up, try the Women’s Racer Leggings with strappy heels and hoops to get heads turning (of course in a good way). Tracksuits hit the catwalks and streets alike in the noughties as a major fashion staple in any wardrobe. The trend fell quite quickly, until now, and it is here to stay. Rather than jumping for a velour tracksuit, even if we were obsessed with Juicy Couture back in the day, sticking to a sleek look with Be Yourself is the best route.

The Hundreds

With a passion for doing things differently, The Hundreds combine their streetwear brand with a media platform focused on street cultures from all around the world. As with many other brands sitting on the top of the streetwear ladder, the unisex collections are testing the boundaries of what is conventional. From t-shirts to tote bags, you can shop complete looks with The Hundreds.
