I am a 26 yr old aspiring fashion designer. I live in a small town in NC and travels to Atlanta, Ga quite often, only because its closer to me, in order to scope new trends and ideas. I have learned a lot by working in retail as a store manager. I'm focused on colors, shapes, and different patterns and fabrics everyday. I strive to keep up with what is fashion forward everyday as I step out into society by reading fashion magazines and checking out any fashion type shows on tv, even scoping the web. My ultimate dream in life is to share my passion for clothing and accessories, that speak for themselves, with others. By that, I mean, made by me, drawing inspiration from a range of sources that compliment my personality. I pray for the day that I see the ad for my own clothing label on a billboard......I can't stop and I won't stop now.
Fashion Industry Experience
I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Professional Career Development Institute in Atlanta, Ga. I am currently seeking to apply to the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Academy of Art University, both for Fashion Design in the Fall 2009. I work as a retail store manager for The Cato Corporation in Murphy, NC, which I have been for 2 years and 3 years total. i have learned the art of visual techniques, how to merchandise products that people want, making monthly sales goals, budgeting and spending. I also plan to attend the Atlanta International Fashion Week 2009 in July.
Favorite Fashion Designer or Fashion Brand
House of Dereon/ Dereon, H&M, ArdenB., Ed Hardy, Guess, I could go on with brands, its all the designers that i'm trying to get familiar with, so I don't have a favorite. Anything that makes a statement i love!

If you have any questions regarding this fashion network, please let me know.
If you work full time and plan to attend school part-time like I do, it'll be an exciting challenge. All the professors work in the field and are extremely knowledgeable. The course load is demanding and the college is expensive, but well worth it. Since they're the only school that attends Fashion Week, they really help their students excel and give you solid tools & resources to work with in order to succeed in the industry. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend checking out the school and touching base with the Director of the Fashion School.
