International Quilt Show in Houston

Last week I attended the Quilt Festival here in Houston and it was absolutely amazing. On Thursday night Bernina held their 2008 wearable art fashion show. The show entitled Rendezvous featured garments from 48 designers that embroidered, beaded, quilted, and hand painted their fabulous designs. On Friday and Saturday Bernina also held “Meet the Designer” seminars and informal fashion shows allowing participants to talk to the designers about their design and construction techniques. The following slide show includes a few of the designs from the informal show.

Out of Africa - International Festival Houston

The theme for the Houston International Festival this year was “Out of Africa”. The African theme is clearly influencing fashion for Spring 2008.

With Safarai jackets and African prints showing up in runway shows for Spring its obvious that designers have been inspired by the flavor of Africa. The “tribal and global” trend is in every designers spring collection from Donna Karan to the Gap. FIT Graduation - One year ago

BFA Fashion Design Show April 30, 2007, Fashion Institute of Technology, silk knit coat and dress ensemble, designed and machine knit by Stella Linton.

After years of working as a flight attendant, I went back to school (FIT) to finish my BFA degree in fashion design in 2005. This is my graduation project garment.
