About Me ...: Pamela Thompson, former Head Designer at Betsey Johnson and Heatherette, has become one of the brightest young stars to come out of the New York Fashion Scene. Pamela came to NYC from Chicago in 1992 to launch her career in Fashion Design. Although Pamela has worked for others in the industry, she has also had her own streetwear line from 1996-1998 and her own store in 1999. Pamela's signature Collection...Pamela Thompson was launched in early 2006 and her Collection for Summer 08 is currently in boutiques in the US and Canada.

The vignette Collection of dresses for 2008, augments Pamela's charming style. The Collection blends hand drawn whimsical prints with silhouettes that are not only reminiscent of things past, but truly point the direction to fashion's future with crystal clarity.

Pamela has always believed in kindness and caring. Her business and design is a reflection of this philosophy. The Collection features fine fabrics, attention to detail and construction and design that allows the wearer's personality to shine through. Simply put, Pamela designs clothing that makes you smile.

During her 17-year career, Pamela was Head Designer at Betsey Johnson (4 yrs), designing some of Betsey's best selling dresses, which are still being sold today. After leaving Betsey Johnson, Pamela was hired as Head Designer for Heatherette (2 yrs), where she took the label from a press sensation, to a fun, wearable and saleable Collection. Pamela also continues her 11 year collaboration with Anna Sui, working on various graphic tee shirt designs for her Collection and formerly on her website.

Over the years, Pamela has dressed many notable celebrities including Kirsten Dunst, Paris Hilton, Avril Lavigne, Ashanti, Fergie, Jamie Lynn Siegler, Lydia Hearst and Molly Sims.

Her designs have sold to major department stores including Henri Bendel, Bloomingdales and Nordstroms, as well as specialty stores throughout the US, Europe and Tokyo. Her designs have been featured in over 10 Women's Wear Daily issues (2 covers), The New York Times, Italian Vogue, Elle, W, Nylon, Cosmopolitan, Paper Magazine, In Style, Teen Vogue, Lucky, Allure and www.fashion.net. Pamela's designs have also been presented in over 10 separate 7th on Sixth fashion shows, during NY's fashion week.

Pamela has also spent the last 10 years of her career helping others. Her website is one of the few that shares the "ins and outs" of the fashion industry. Pamela has always felt fortunate in her career and never hesitates to help answer questions asked by a student or future fashion designer. Pamela personally answers all email from students about the design market and if asked, gives guidance to them on their own career path. Pamela also loves mentoring students through internships. Pamela hopes to be able to give back even more by writing a book for young up-and-coming designers and students, which will answer many questions that students have asked her over the years.
