- About Me ...
- I live in and was raised in Manhattan. Being here has made me into the independent and hardworking person I wanted to become. However, I am still hard at work trying to figure out who that person is. One thing that has always kept me levelheaded and in the right direction was my love for being around people and how impressed I have always been with the unique style of the every day inhabitant. Whether or not the particular individual walking around was even from New York, the sense of fashion and the statements that are made.. are so different. You start to become less judgemental of your surroundings and those people.. when you start to have an appreciation for the every day chic and technique that those around you have to offer. I have always loved that part of living in NYC. This is the city where fashion comes first.
The most important thing in my life right now is coming to terms with my own sense of personality in respects to that of the other persons individuality. Instead of being condemnatory and critical, I begun to appreciate people for who they because of who they are. I think this is extremely important. Being yourself.
At the moment I am working fulltime for an insurance company and for the past couple of years as a receptionist/admin assistant. I am very unsure of what I want to do here in NYC honestly, but I tend to focus more on opportunities where I can be of service verbally speaking and connecting, as well as working hands on various things. Especially through my creative side and musical side. I have always had a knack in that area. Though scarce and with very few economical opportunities for many, in my spare time I love applying makeup on myself and others, making other people feel beautiful and of course on the inside is what matters. It is also important however, in this day and age dressing to impress and outside appearance is an extremely important aspect of expressing yourself and making an impression. It makes me feel good to go out and look nice. I love picking out and looking at clothes.. (where it can become obsessive.. not always unhealthy), drawing with good feelings, colors, lights.
I am a very scattered person.. one thing I am not, is highly organized. It rarely helps with work ethic, but very much helps me be a person with many ideas which flow to me faster than I can think, helping me to be imaginative and think outside the box.
- Fashion Industry Experience
- Worked for Abercrombie and Fitch during college years and Lord and Taylor. Currently working for Hair Extensions NYC, a company in midtown Manhattan, as an assistant. However only seasonal, and done on a when to need basis. I had met my own boss being a client of hers. She drew to me and quickly saw the capabilities and how i interacted with and my relationships with others people. As well as abilities to creatively think "outside the box". I currently work for an insurance company since opportunities have been scarce. It is important to me that I keep my health benefits/insurance in this economic recession.
I am looking for a fulltime opportunity to pursue something in Fashion, however. I just dont know exactly what my forte or area of expertise would be in the world of Fashion.. however if anyone has or knows of any opportunities to maybe work with by assisting, that would be great. I am currently in the midst of sending out resume information, but I would so much more rather learn a trade on some down time I have before I leap into a fulltime career which may just not be for me. I want to take that leap when I am confident it is the time. In the time being, any help would be much appreciated and any way I could help you with your job and all the while learning the trade would be awesome too :)
