Originally from Silver Spring, MD, I owe my love for fashion to the retailer that inspired me: Nordstrom. It was when I worked there that I realized what career field that I wanted to work in. With no previous retail experience, I managed to work my way up and within 6 months, I went from being a PT Sales Associate to an Assistant Manager in Nordstrom's Junior's Department, BP. After a year of being employed there, I decided that it was best for me to obtain a degree in the field that I had fallen in love with.
In the Fall of 2006, I began my journey at The Art Institute of Philadelphia, studying Fashion Marketing. During those years, I learned far more than I'd ever thought I would--not only did I learn lessons from AiPH's curriculum, I learned life lessons that will be with me forever. I learned the importance of persistence, determination, and hard-work. In my time in Philadelphia, I've worked with buyers, boutique owners, independent vendors, and designers, as well as maintained a part-time job in the process. It was with these people and working with certain retailers that I learned the way of business in the fashion industry.
Now that I have graduated, I am now ready to pursue my career. Between my studies and various work experiences, I believe that I am seasoned enough for just about any position in the fashion industry. My policy has always been to absorb as much knowledge as possible, work hard and see what opportunities present themselves and I trust that that mindset will continue to open doors for me.
