“Seams like Bharat” is a collection of men’s wear and women’s wear inspired by the diversity of cultures in India with a contemporary twist. The line is edgy, young and contemporary.Despite India being a land of so many cultures, its rich heritage, traditionand values still lack originality in terms of fashion and creating newtrends. In this war against plagiarism and pragmatic thinking, we, the“gen-next” designers decided to make a difference. When it comes toclothing, there is a lot of Western influence on Indian designers, theresult of which is suffered by the consumer. In this quest for “aping theWest”, the consumer is left feeling uncomfortable, awkward and “outof place”. We proposed to combat this problem by creating an originaltrend influenced and inspired by India.Our creations aim to promote India through its clothing using innovation,originality and something that is distinct in itself – basically creatingan atmosphere wherein buyers would be confident in their clothes andaccessories.A conscious effort to be original led us to explorations, such asmanipulation of fabric, folding, knotting, prints and embroideries.The line is very contemporary, an Indian creation with a Western twist– an Indian party, inviting people from all over the world.
