  • Coco - thanks for your comments. Maybe you can meet up with other fashion designers from Canada. I know you ar e not in Montreal, but maybe you can work with designers that show at the Montreal Fashion Week. Also, maybe you can find something helpful at the Canada Fashion section on Apparel Search. Maybe you can meet companies at some of the Canada Trade Show events.

Recently we started a Canada Fashion Group here on this network. You are welcome to join. Currently, we do not yet have too many members, but hopefully that group will help you in the future.
  • Hello, thank you for your comment.. First af all you have to live, eat & breathe fashion! Its a very competitive field out there, so you must really want it;)

combination of education and interest is what make a good stylist. One of it is just not enough.. Because you have to learn all about colours, shapes, forms and so on and so on.. and all this education will do you no good if you don’t have what it takes; Passion for fashion and style ;)

..I recommend that you take some fashion courses or if possible go to some fashion school. I studied fashion design for 3 years in a fashion collage here in Iceland. Than I went to the academy of colour and style for 1 year and graduated as a fashion stylist.

but if you are not able to attend school or any courses try to buy as many fashion books & magazines as possible.. and ofcourse use the internet!! You will always have to know whats in fashion every season and how to put it together.. u get my point, right?

Don’t be afraid to use your imagination and try out some new & unique things! Be different!! Its all about Style!!

Skills needed; Ability to Communicate, Business Sense, Fashion Knowledge and Adventurous Style.

Try to find work experience on a magazine or call local photographers or local newspapers, send them your CV and offer your services as a runner on the next fashion shoot they may be doing. Keep in touch with the fashion world by attending galleries and exhibitions, and reading magazines and books.
