About Me
Hi, I am from South Africa. I am a researcher & development specialist in the fashion/apparel sector. I also lecture to fashion design students and to business students on the global apparel industry.
I have a Blog called "The ReDress Consultancy-South Africa"

I am very keen to network and build up contacts in the fashion/apparel sector with experts so please do make contact via this network or direct to me:,za

At the moment I am undertaking two studies:
1. The role of fashion weeks - do they contribute to the development of the fashion sector or are they just great show events. I would welcome comments, suggestions about fashion weeks. Would love to make contact with designers who have taken part in these events ... do they help your businesses. The reason I am doing this study is because in South Africa they (fashion weeks) are still show events and there is very little focus on the business side.

The other study I am doing is around sponsorship of fashion weeks. Why do componies sponsor fashion weeks and wht or who do they get market exposure for their links. Any comments, suggestions insight is most welcome.

My name is Oluyomi Agoro. I am a Nigerian currently writing my masters thesis (international Buisness) at the London Metropilitan University.
I found you on the website.
I am doing my research on the fashion industry in Africa and my angle is developing this through microfinance as a means to poverty eradication. I am reading your research ( A research study on the South African fashion industry)at present and would greatly appreaciate any help you can give towards my research.
I should also tell you that I am a young upcoming designer hence my interest in the fashion industry. I love tompromote african designs here in the UK and have received a great reception for my work. I hope one day african fashion will be as sophisticated as the western fashion industry. My work is a mix of the african and western. I use african fabrics but my designs have a strong western influence. I am currently developing my website but you can see some of my work at I also have a facebook group. you can see more pictures if you scroll down the page

would love to have a copy of your book. Inside out as i dont know where to get it here in london.

looking forward to hearing from you.

Renato - thanks for your comments. It is noted that you are working on a list of designers from South Africa. Just keep me posted when you are ready, and I can create the South Africa group listing on the site. You can then use that section to create a network for you and your friends in South Africa (please only invite your friends interested in fashion. This site is intended as a business network, not a social network)...

Thank you for creating your profile on the Fashion Industry Network. We look forward to hearing more about your work in the forums or groups. If you want, we can create a group for South Africa. If you think that you can get other fashion designers from south africa in the group, I can create that section for you so that you can have a place to communicate back and forth with other people in South Africa that work in fashion.
