This vintage red silk dress with a black border trim by Yeohlee is a piece of artwork.  Really just look at the collar…  Yeohlee Teng design is universal.  She believes that design comes from serving a function and is refined through time and process.  Yeohlee Teng moved to NYC from Malaysia to study at Parsons School of Design.  She launched YEOHLEE in 1981.  She is a master of design management and believes in the efficiency of year round seasonless clothes.  Yeohlee’s designs have earned a permanent place in the Costume Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he late curator Richard Martin called her “one of the most ingenious makers of clothing today.”  She has been included in countless museums shows.  In 2000 at the Galleria Museum, the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris included her work among designers such as: Hussein Chalayan, Rei Kawakubo, Alexander McQueen, Issey Mikaye and Yves Saint Laurent.  2001 “YEOHLEE” Supermodern Style”,  opened at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.   In 2004 Yeohlee Teng was the recipient of the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Award for Fashion Design.  In 2004 Yeohlee was nominated with fashion innovators Marc Jacobs and Naricso Rodriguez for Fashion Design Award for which she wins the prize…In 2005, Yeohlee was in the Kennedy Center for the Performing Art ‘New China Chic” exhibition.  2006 was featured at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles that featured the works of McQueen, Viktor & Rolf, Dries van Noten, Alber Elbaz & Junya Watanabe.  So when I say that this lady is an artist, she’s an artist!
