Summer is often the most popular season to hold a wedding so it is no surprise if you have been invited to one or two that are approaching in the next couple of months. Whether you are a friend or family member taking part in the tremendous day, celebrating a wedding always makes you feel blessed and hopeful for the future.

Whilst it’s usually the bride’s role to be planning and stressing about last minute preparations, if you are a guest, picking an outfit for the event can also be a difficult choice to make. Here are some tips to help you stay clear from disaster at your next wedding ceremony.

You never want to upstage the bride at her own wedding which is why it is vital not to wear white as you don’t want to be mistaken for the bride! Instead, opt for a shade to complement the season such as coral or pastel yellow.

Don’t match the bridesmaids

You don’t want to clash with the bridesmaids either, so make sure you find out in advance what styles and colours they will be wearing before the big day so you can prepare your own outfit.

Do be respectable

Remember, a wedding is a religious event so it is important to wear respectful clothing that does not expose too much flesh. When choosing the length of your dress, make sure it sits no higher than just above your knees. As for plunging necklines, try to stay clear from these too.

Do dress for the occasion

Following on from the last comment, you can’t turn up to the ceremony wearing sweat pants and a baseball cap. Make sure you make an effort for the special occasion by wearing something you wouldn’t usually wear.

By following these do’s and don’ts, you should be able to avoid drawing unsightly attention to yourself during the big occasion. You can find a range of wedding guest dresses at Little Mistress.
