Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) Fall/Winter 2016 session had hold during March of 2016 in Chinese Culture Center, Vancouver, Canada. This was their 27th session since 2001, the undertaker promised that this session VFW will show the diversity of fashion design in different countries. There were around 100 shows during the fashion week to reveal the most hot design in fall/winter 2016.

This fashion week is the quickest developed fashion week in North America area. They provided a international stage for the talented emerging designers who unable to step on the larger fashion week, like London, Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Weeks. It helped emerging designers open the international market and get the attention from fashion media and professional buyers. Before 2016, VFW had not been noticed by Chinese fashion industry. China, as one of the largest and most attractive market all over the world, every fashion weeks are trying to cause its attention to promote their influence in international market. VFW put China on the list in their Fall/Winter 2016 session for sure. They wanted to show Chinese that what is VFW and how brilliant that VFW is, also introduce their emerging designers to China.

For this objective, from a few weeks before the open of VFW Fall/Winter 2016 to the few weeks later after the end of VFW in March, you could see the reports, pictures and discussions were all over the Chinese online social medias and paper medias. The KOLs on Weibo were sharing the articles and beautiful pictures, which made VFW list on the hot topics during those weeks. Chinese fashion lovers started to search information and put questions on famous Chinese forums, like Zhihu, Douban and Tianya, and people all discuss that under the questions. In Wechat, all the relevant official accounts, like JAC Canada, In Canada, Study in Canberra and so on, post articles about VFW. Apart from these, Chinese fashion journalists also invited some designers had shows in VFW to attend the interviews, like Angus CHIANG. To attend the Chinese market, VFW also invited Chinese talented designers, like Helen LEE, and they also determined to explore more brilliant Chinese fashion designers.

“As a fashionista, I’d like to see Chinese designers go to international market, seek for chances and organize international resources. Overall, VFW has aimed Chinese market since 2009. Their topic became boost and popular on Chinese social medias and magazines in 2016 was quite stunning and surprised. They actually hired different PR agencies for different sessions in different regions (LA, London, Toronto, New York, Tokyo, etc.) to help them obtain more coverage from local and international media for their emerging designers. For sure, VFW had made a right choose on selecting PR agency this time for Chinese market.
