There are many people who fight against this issue on a daily basis. However, there are several ways by which one can easily fix this issue.

Did you know that stinking feet can be a problem that runs in the family? Yes, it can true that the propensity of stinking feet can run for generations together and that’s when you can follow some basic home remedies to get rid of such an awkward situation.

The odor of your stinking footwear can be very influential and exclusive to you. No two individuals can have the similar smell. This is why, it becomes difficult most of the time to eradicate the smell form one’s room easily. So, how does this happen?

Stinking feet is caused due to an active bacterium that grows on the feet when it not exposed to air for a long time. This bacterium cultivates on sweaty feet and also when there is no exposure to air. The moisture attracts the bacteria who love to live in the shoes.

Millions of sweat glands are present on our feet and so, they can get wet quite easily. This leads to an environment that is perfect enough for the bacterium to grow and become powerful. This does not end at one’s feet. This also happens to the palms for many people and of course the smell in one’s arm pits. However, the foot odor is the most strongly smelled one.

Remedies to overcome the foot odor and smelling feet

Not many are blessed with the problem of beautiful feet that do not stink. However, there are many remedies that you can opt for to fix it. These can also be quite economical on your pocket.

  • Ensure to wash your feet with a good soap. Dry them thoroughly with a towel. DO not ignore the places in between the toes. Leaving a damp environment is an invitation for the bacteria to come and live on our skin. This can lead to several bacterial and fungal infections of the skin on the feet; especially, the skin diseases.
  • Choose a soap that is skin friendly – meaning that the pH level is neutral. A slightly acidic soap wash or body wash is a good idea too. It will help to strike the skins pH level to its usual self. Being slightly acidic can help the skin to fight against virus, fungus, bacteria and diseases.
  • Do not use soaps or body wash that have an alkaline pH. This will only worsen the situation.
  • A deodorizing bath to your skin and feet is a great idea to begin. You can start off with a salty bath. This reduces the bacterium residing on your feet.
  • Choose a good quality foot powder to dust your foot with, after drying it completely with the towel.
  • The common Baking soda is also a good choice.
  • You can also rub a few drops of eucalyptus oil or lavender oil. This will leave your feet with good aroma. It will deodorize the feet and keep it safe from the stinking smell.

So, what can you do to the shoes?

Well, it is quite simple. Shower baking powder and eucalyptus oil in the shoes and leave it for about 24 hours. Dust your shoes before wearing it.

If you have washable footwear, then make sure you wash them regularly. You can try adding few drops of eucalyptus oil. The oil will remove all the dusts, grease and stain from the shoes.

Try to avoid wearing the same shoes every day.

Expose them to sunlight or leave them to dry out thoroughly before you plan to wear them again.

Always wear cotton socks and heel pads. They have a tendency to soak up the sweat and perspiration.
