The Sex & The City Workout

Hello Hunters!!! I hope you had a great Mother's day yesterday and celebrated that special woman in your life to the fullest...but if your celebration was anything like mine then you need to double on the cardio this week too! Between the chips, shrimp, lasagna, wine and desserts I feel so guilty that I think I'll behaving Special K all week!... (not really... but you get the point) This week I have officially started the Sex and The City 2 countdown and that means that I have a little over 2 weeks to look my best (only 17 days...oh no it's crunch time!) So I have decided to emulate the four fabulous ladies from the big screen and find out their secrets to staying fit and beautiful... I have made a few changes here and there so feel free to make it your own!Let’s start with the leading lady...Miss SJP: Have you seen her? She is so tiny and fit!... yes I know... I have seen a few not-so-flattering pics but I still love her. This skinny lady has made it known that she loves to eat and even jokes that she and her hubby often plan their next meal while eating their current one (not sure if it's true...but let’s entertain the idea). She eats whatever she wants and makes sure to practice portion control, which I have managed to do by eating in smaller plates... It really does work, give it a try. Sarah also says it’s very hard for her to stick to a workout program so instead she does “everyday exercise”, meaning that she walks everywhere and always takes the stairs. Living in Miami it is hard to walk everywhere because of the huge distances so I go to the mall for long walks and lift heavy shopping bags instead of weights… the stairs thing... well let’s say it’s a work in progress.The fabulous Kim Catrall may be the oldest of the bunch but she is hot hot HOT...I' wanna look like her when I grow up! This sexy cougar has more nude scenes than any of the ladies so she has double the pressure! Kim has a unique trick that stops her from overeating... when she feels she’s had enough food, she squirts lemon all over the remaining food on her plate so it tastes horrible and she won’t be tempted to keep eating... I've changed it for salt cuz I really like lemon ;-) When it comes to exercise, she has always been active and tries to get in at least 30 minutes a day. Her secret weapon when it comes to her long, youthful limbs is Pilates - something she credits with not only keeping her trim but also improving her posture and helping her sleep.Kirstin Davis admits she is the "curvy" one of the group and she intends to stay that way... did you see her in "Couples Retreat"? She is a hotty! The gorgeous brunette says she exercises to keep her body and mind fit and healthy, not to fit into a size 2… you go girl. She eats very balanced meals every three hours consisting of protein, carbs, and veggies and also practices portion control. Kristin says she loves the outdoors and hiking with her dogs in the Hollywood Hills... I find that this is a great way to get you moving and off the couch, plus it helps you relax, get some fresh air and free your mind.Finally the fabulous red hair lady Cynthia Nixon knows what it takes to keep herself strong and healthy. The recent cancer survivor stays fit by practicing Gyrotronics, a combination of several workouts including yoga, ballet, tai chi and gymnastics. She also has a great love for Sushi (hold the mayo and cream cheese) and a very unusual way of eating her veggies... she loves to take tomatoes, dip them in vodka, and then in salt before eating them. It’s called the Cynthia Nixon Tomato Surprise... I'm not sure if this is a particularly pleasant surprise though so I won't be trying it... It may just put you off eating whatever food you choose to dipSo remember no matter which plan you like best, the important thing is to stay active and healthy!
