Being a businesswoman is most certainly not easy, but if you do it in style, maybe it can get a bit more enjoyable. Choosing appropriate work attire will make you feel confident and look you best, no matter if you’ve been working 12 hours a day and you almost put on two different shoes in the morning.

You may think that suits are not in style anymore, you will be surprised to see how many young designers are trying their best to create pieces that are suited for today’s businesswoman. They look powerful, elegant and as neat as it can get. Follow the tips below to find the best one for you.

Choose an appropriate cut

When we are talking suits, the cut is everything. If you want to find one that suits you flawlessly, you need to keep in mind your body shape. Someone with an hourglass body, for example, will want to choose a suit that accentuates their figure, but in a more toned-down way. A high-waisted skirt or pair of pants, combined with a jacket that is cinched at the waist is a perfect choice.

If you have an apple body type, you will want to choose a jacket that is cut at the hips, to showcase your most flattering body part, whereas if you have a pear-shaped body, you want to choose a cropped jacket or a suit with a more boxy blazer.

Consider the colors

Gone are the days when the only color options for suits were black, gray and navy. Now, you can basically choose any type of color you want, but you may want to stick with greens, blues, and purples, for a more grownup look.

There are many stores that provide the same type of suit in a variety of colors or styles, such as Sumisssura does, so really, the sky is the limit. You can even go ahead and pair a neutral-colored pair of pants with a colorful blazer if you want, but try keeping both items a solid color, instead of recurring to patterns.

Layering is everything

In terms of what to wear under your suit, this is where you can experiment a bit more. Depending on your work environment or occasion, you can choose more formal or informal blouses.

For a conference or client meeting, for example, try keeping things polished and simple. Choose a button-up collared shirt in a color that compliments the suit, and you should be good to go.

For a typical office day, a more fun and colored shirt will also work. For a casual Friday look, you can even pair a suit with a t-shirt or a more playful blouse.

Let the suit be the centerpiece

No matter how you choose to play with the rest of the accessories, keep in mind that you want the focus to be on the suit. For such a powerful clothing pair, going overboard with accessories may be too much. Try keeping things more minimal and top everything out with a killer pair of shoes.
