The Great Gatsby Adaption – Get the Look

If you haven’t heard about the release of The Great Gatsby film yet, then you must be living under a very large, sound-proof, rock. The 2013 film is an adaption of the famous 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald based on romance, drama and sheer luxury. The leading role goes to the wonderful Leonardo DiCaprio who plays Mr Gatsby, a mysterious businessman who holds profligate parties.

The Great Gatsby film has brought back memories of the 1920s era which was a massive decade for fashion. Following the release of iconic novel-turned-film earlier this month, there has been a major buzz over all things associated with the 1920s fashion scene. Here we take a look at some of the biggest trends from the luxury era.

Womenswear

During the 1920s, womenswear had a major overhaul which seen the appearance of luxury garments in the wardrobes of the high class women. From drop-waist dresses to fringing, beading and feathers, anything was possible in this era. The high class woman would have a wardrobe packed with pieces that were adorned with intricate embellishments and attention to detail for ultimate luxury. T-bar shoes were often worn to finish off the ladies highly embellished attire.

Menswear

As for menswear, the 1920s seen men dressing in business-like attire complete with a posh suit, tie and a hat. Men would often pull out all of the stops at evening events by selecting a luxury tuxedo and making sure it was pressed to perfection. Contrasting brogues, similar to those by Gucinari, were a top shoe choice for men during the 1920s era.
