Every man should have at least five essential items of clothing in their wardrobe as summer temperatures soar. Making sure you have these items in your closet will keep you looking sharp even if you are on a limited budget. Here are the items that should be in every man’s summer wardrobe.

Chino Shorts

While men may prefer the large pockets found on cargo shorts, most men look much better in chino shorts. Their slimmer cut makes a man look leaner. Men can dress them up by wearing them with a golf shirt and loafers. Alternatively, create a more casual look with t-shirts and sandals.

Khaki Trousers

Opting for a pair of khakis with a flat front and a straight leg is a great way to go from business casual to that evening date. You can even team them up with your favorite men’s golf apparel. Consider pairs with four pockets as buying one with more turns them into cargo pants and adds unneeded bulk to your frame. Most men find that having darker brown khakis in their closet allows them to be more versatile.

Golf Shirts

While you probably already have white and light colored golf shirts in your closet, adding a brightly colored golf shirt is a great way to look sharp in the summer. Consider ones with a structured collar as they naturally draw attention towards your face while remaining ultra-comfortable. Alternatively, opt for ones in a solid bright color with interesting designs printed on it. If you plan on being out when the temperatures drop in the morning or evening, then get a long-sleeve under layer to go under it. While this is a great outfit to wear to your favorite course, you can wear it so many more places.

Sandals

The ugly sneaker trend has reach sandals as a summer wardrobe essential. Often made with paracord, the great news is that most are made to hide your ugly toes helping to keep your look stylish from top to bottom. Many also have thick soles making them a great choice for hiking trails, but they also feel comfortable when you are running around town or to the ballgame. While you will find them in a variety of colors choosing a dark brown pair makes them go with more things in your wardrobe.

Sports Coat

You need a good sports coat in your summer wardrobe. Choose one in a lighter color as it will repel the heat whether than absorbing it. Think about options with linen as the crinkly texture easily hides most wrinkles. Keep it looking sharp by choosing one with a breast pocket so that you can stick your favorite pocket square in it.

When you have these five items in your summer wardrobe, you will not only be ready for this summer but many more to come. Choose quality items and you can wear them for many years to come. They will never go out of style saving you money and the hassle of shopping again.
