This time not pedestrians, but drivers or their co-drivers. The reflective vest does not fit into the mandatory equipment of the vehicle, but the driver must have it if it gets into trouble.
In autumn and winter, the number of pedestrian traffic accidents increases regularly. The reason is, of course, reduced visibility, much earlier in the dark, mist and/or snow, for example. In this period, however, there are also more drivers who have to leave the car for various reasons. For these cases, prevention is important, reminiscent of the need for reflective vests. "Today's event, among other things, we give out the reflective vests with reflective tapes to co-drivers who move on the road during an emergency," says traffic policeman René Kilmer.
Reflective jackets with reflective materials do not belong to the mandatory equipment of the car, but in the case of emergency abandonment of the car, it is the duty of the driver to wear the vest and should be provided by the co-driver and other passengers in the car. It can save their lives. "It is mandatory for us to see and be seen," Pave says for BESIP.
But the police did not just focus on prevention, drivers had to blow up if they did not drink alcohol before driving, they checked driving and technology licenses. Who had everything in order had a reflective vest for the co-driver. "It's all right, and these actions should be more frequent, and we're moving quite aggressively on our journeys," one of the drivers told us, and he said, "I totally agree."
In similar traffic-safety preventive actions, policemen will continue in the coming days. So drive with caution and take the gas off.
