Poncho: Culture Meets Catwalk

8842905470?profile=originalThat's So New YorkCultural trends have been a hit this season both on the catwalk and high-street among some of our favourite designers; Although the tribal trend has been a vintage favourite this season, some of us need something a little more modern, something for those art-types who are looking to inspire the future of fashion, rather than dwell of the trends which the majority of our grandparents would have set and considered extremely popular, 40 years ago. Yes, of-course I am a fan of the vintage trend yet this season it seems the rise of the ethnic and Mexican-fitting Poncho has been a ‘must have’ on my summer shopping list. This poncho brought to us by OAK has to be one of my personal favourites this season, mixing both cultural and modern aspects of the 2011 catwalk. With a price-tag of $152, I’m sure the majority of us cannot deny that this may be a little out of our price-range, yet I promise you that this is one garment worth investing in, as I can assure you that we will see the rise of this trend once again in the upcoming fall/winter months. I advise that you take some inspiration from the biker trend this season, looking at designers such as Rad Hourani and articulating garments made of leather into your every day wardrobe.
